Service application of IOT in intelligent residential space

there are many explanations for the definition of intelligent residential space. The author tries to quote here: "by applying intelligent solutions (including intelligent materials and information technology), residents can interact with their spatial environment." (Note 1) this space can respond to the various needs of residents, including: having the ability to provide a comfortable space for residents, providing all kinds of information required by residents anytime and anywhere, so that users living in it can improve their experience of living in this space because they have the ability to master the environment and all kinds of information

according to the "eight year development blueprint of China's intelligent residential space" report of the Architectural Research Institute of the Ministry of the interior, the key to the promotion of intelligent residential space policy lies in the "on demand" and "O2" service concept of "open network"; It means that the services needed in the space vary from person to place; At the same time, these services should exist on an open network platform to facilitate the access of various on-demand services. It is precisely because the key lies in "service", rather than the hardware system or software capability emphasized by the telecommunications industry in the past, and the poor process level does not emphasize the development of new software and hardware technologies. Therefore, the actual business service model will also be different from the thinking of the telecommunications industry in the past. Internet of things can not only provide information transmission and connection, but also provide the interaction and service ability between objects, between objects and space, or between people and space. Therefore, it has become an important concept and technical pillar in implementing the intellectualization of "service" into residential space

smart home service platform

the key to the promotion of smart living space policy mentioned earlier is the "on demand" and "O2" service concept of "open network", in which the open service network is called "residential service platform" (RSP) in the home environment. With the four theme services of "safety and security, energy conservation and sustainability, health care, comfort and convenience" revealed by the intelligent living space, you can freely enter and leave the home environment. Through this platform, the flexible combination and integration of applications and services across networks enable consumers to choose customized services according to people, time and place in January this year, as shown in Figure 1

the technical level discussion on the actual implementation of the concept of "smart home service platform" in China may not use the term "IOT", but its substantive content and spirit are the same, but its development fields and application needs are different. In practical application, the "smart home service platform" hopes to connect various devices in the home, such as video and audio devices (TV, DVD player, Xbox 360, PS3, etc.), security 3, clamping extensometer devices (cameras, infrared, gas, carbon monoxide sensors, etc.), energy-saving devices (switches, solar cells, etc.), so as to provide a complete set of services to residents

the research on "smart home service platform" has also made many achievements in the Architectural Research Institute of the Ministry of the interior (Note 2) and the domestic industry and academia. In the process of participating in the "intelligent residential space industry alliance" and its promotion, the author wants to put forward that under the common platform and technical framework, almost all objects (if necessary) can have the ability to communicate with other objects (such as actuators), or only provide other objects or data collected by the system itself (such as sensors). However, the privacy of home environment is high after all. There are two levels of consideration for home appliances: first, the necessity of home appliances; Second, whether to go to the intranet or the Internet. The necessity of home appliances lies in whether they provide residents with "status return" and "control" functions, or whether different home appliances can communicate with each other to play the efficiency of 1+1 greater than 2? Or is it unnecessary? As for internal or external network? Most home appliances and sensing and actuating devices will still exist in the internal network; Only the necessary services are connected to the external network through the service platform

here, I only share the application concepts of home service platform and IOT in home appliances with the "smart kitchen" development plan that the author participated in. Instead of developing new technologies, the subsystem and modules are integrated with the computer through communication technology, and the set service functions are brought into play through the concise man-machine interface

The left half of the figure is hardware equipment, including lifting motor (the height of the workbench can be adjusted according to the user's height), RFID reader module, electronic scale, wireless temperature and humidity module, computer, etc. The right part is the software part, including application program, database, timer, calculator tool program and man-machine interface. In addition, the communication part includes serial port communication (RS-232), Internet (tcp/ip) and cable television (cable); These three communication protocols are used to connect the systems on the kitchen utensils with the computer, including the communication and viewing of network and TV, and the broadcasting of cable TV programs. The RFID antenna (Reader) and the electronic scale assembly are combined with the back-end database to read and write the food label and weight into the database at one time, so as to provide the service of the refrigerator storage system

to play a complete service function, intelligent kitchenware still needs to seek content providers through the network and IOT. For example, the database links required for RFID labels, the production resumes established by the national agricultural administration, private agricultural production and marketing, large stores, logistics fresh food, or the food and organic certification, as long as they are read and scanned by RFID or bar code, the storage and recording of food materials can be completed quickly. When there is a lack of food and materials to be supplemented, you can cooperate with vendors, logistics, home distribution and other industries, and order through the network, and then you can deliver them home. At the same time, the programs and text content required by the audio-visual recipes can be downloaded on demand, sold in the audio-visual selling mode operated by Apple computer, or linked with the cultural publishing industry or the image publishing industry to complete this service; It can be seen that different from the previous business models and business opportunities appear. Intelligent kitchenware, in addition to providing the traditional functions of kitchenware in people's hearts, also needs to provide other services; However, the business opportunities for subsequent service provision seem to be more unlimited, and the industrial links affected can be broader (Figure 4)

"IOT" is booming in recent years, and the development of "intelligent living space" is also an emerging industry in China; Even though the use of the two at the technical level is different, the essence of the spirit and content are quite similar. Here, the author proudly puts forward several views. You IOT advanced must have more ideas and unique business models for services in buildings

in the long run, IOT and open home service platforms have the opportunity to make service providers no longer equipment manufacturers or system integrators; The promotion of intelligent living space and the incentives for industrial investment should be improved. As long as there is unique creativity to integrate the existing indoor equipment and provide services different from those in the market, it will have the opportunity to become a new business model and behavior, which will be a win-win situation for consumers, industry and service providers
